Your body spends nine months building something extraordinary. For most of us, the only proof that's left afterward is a handful of photographs and a memory that fades faster than we'd like. This year, that's changing — at least here in Auckland.
I'm thrilled to introduce a new collaboration between Kim May Photographer and The Bronzed Belly: a limited pop-up experience that pairs fine art maternity photography with hand-cast bronze belly sculpture, so this season of your life can be kept in two different ways, not just remembered in one.
Why We Teamed Up
I started The Bronzed Belly after going through my own pregnancy journey, this taught me how quickly this season passes. Using 3D scanning technology, I transform the exact shape of a growing belly into a timeless bronze sculpture - a piece of art built from your body, your curves and the beautiful form that carried your baby.
Kim May has spent over a decade photographing maternity and newborn sessions across Auckland, and I've always believed a photograph holds the emotion of pregnancy: it holds the light, the connection, and the way you carried your baby.
Put the two together, and you get a complete record of this season: one half visual, one half physical.
